After Adolf Hitler’s seizure of power, the first Nazi concentration camp opened its doors in Dachau on March 22, 1933. Some 200,000 prisoners passed through its barracks over 12 years, of whom an estimated 40,000 died.
For this tour to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, located just over 20 kilometers from the city of Munich, we have guides accredited by the foundation responsible for the site. With the utmost rigor and respect for the victims, we come into contact with the darkest face of Nazism.
We will start our visit at Munich’s main station (Hauptbahnhof), from where we will reach Dachau on the same path that the camp prisoners once walked.
Once at the memorial, we will access the Appellplatz (count square). This is the same access tower that was taken by the American troops on April 29, 1945, the day of liberation.
Once inside the museum, we will visit the Interpretation Center and finish in the area of the old barracks. We will also see the crematoriums and the one known as Barrack X, where there was a gas chamber.
At the end of the tour we will return to Munich.
