On this excursion to Toledo from Madrid, you’ll visit the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, the Church of Santo Tomé with El Greco’s The Burial of the Count of Orgaz, the Cathedral, and the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz—with free time to explore at your own pace.
The day begins with a journey in an air-conditioned coach towards Toledo, offering scenic views of the Castilian landscape along the way. Once in the city, we’ll walk through the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes—an impressive building considered the most important construction of the Catholic Monarchs’ reign.
A few steps away we will visit the ancient synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, transformed centuries later into a church and today converted into a magnificent museum of Mudejar art. Nearby, we will enter the Church of Santo Tomé, which houses one of El Greco’s masterpieces: El Entierro del Conde Orgaz.
The tour continues at the majestic Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, considered one of the most important Gothic churches in Spain. Its interior, filled with artistic treasures, offers a unique insight into the city’s religious and cultural splendor.
After the visit, you’ll have an hour and a half of free time to enjoy lunch, wander through the medieval streets, or discover the city’s delicious local cuisine.
In the afternoon, our itinerary takes us to the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz—the best-preserved of the ten that once stood in Toledo and a striking reminder of the city’s Islamic heritage.
Before heading back to Madrid, we’ll take a short panoramic bus ride to the Mirador del Valle, where you’ll enjoy the most breathtaking views of Toledo.
